Stunning year in Rioja, this wine shows a depth of flavour and ripeness that's rarely seen at any price.
This is the 'tete-de-cuvee', cream of the crop, cool ferment showpiece of the winery, but it's under £8!
We Say...
I was enjoying a trip through the most exclusive parts of Rioja, the part where the chic, super-icon names reside, when I came across a humble co-op run by a dynamic young guy who had fully revitalised the wines there. The fruit in his wines are from the same brilliant vineyard area but, without having a big name to put on the label, are cheaper. Much cheaper. Cracking high-altitude Rioja that won't break your budget.
Didn't seem to offend parents at xmas.
Lacking bite on it's own but went ok with a roast.

Am not a big fan of Rioja but this was nice, not over-stated
tommy
really delicious... kit thinks ut tastes like fruit of the forest
Kevin
Light and fruity, a bit young, but very good for the price
Simon
Wasn't impressed with this red, found it's bitterness put me off
Pernille Kaervad
Cannot remember this - brought it for a party and forgot to rate it afterwards.
Rob
Disappointing, watery and lacking the flavour of other Rioja style wines.

The Wine Maker Says...
Vineyard:La Rioja Alta Country:Spain
Our grapes come only from the highest, steepest slopes of the Rioja region, La Rioja Alta. Some would consider the fruit from these wonderful sites enough and would go on to make good wine. We believe that where nature leaves off, our job begins. So that' why we keep our vines pruned to deliberately reduce yields, pick our grapes by hand in the coolest parts of the day and treat our finished wines to extensive time in barrel; only bottling it when it tastes ready.
